About the role

This position is ideal for someone looking to grow their leadership skills as part of our wider leadership team, leading two popular subjects. We welcome specialisms in either subject area and will provide a strong professional development programme to the successful candidate. Our computing and business courses are particularly popular in the older year groups, including in the sixth form. 

The role will involve:

Working as part of our wider curriculum leadership team

Leading a team of committed, passionate subject experts across both subjects

Teaching across all three key stages in appropriate specialism(s) 

Development of the curriculum

Raising standards 

Delivering CPD and coaching

Contributing to the wider culture of the academy including being part of a House

Havelock Academy was the founding academy in the David Ross Education Trust and our purpose built site, serving Grimsby and Cleethorpes, in particular across the East Marsh, allows students and teachers to flourish. A centralised behaviour system allows teachers and curriculum leaders to focus on high quality classroom provision and our wider enrichment programme offers students world class opportunities in and out of school.

Who we are looking for

Qualified Teacher Status and relevant subject degree

Excellent knowledge of the Computing and/or Business curriculum across all key stages and a willingness to upskill on the other subject if not yet experienced in both

The ability to plan strategically, to set out clear aims and objectives and to manage transformational change successfully

The ability to carry out rigorous self-evaluation and review and to act on the findings in order to bring about improvement

The ability to lead and manage individuals and teams of staff so as to bring out the best in them and the best outcomes for students

The ability to provide effective support to staff so as to ensure the maintenance of good conduct and relationships

A record of consistently delivering high quality lessons and strong outcomes for students

An in depth knowledge of best practice in teaching, learning and assessment for learning

A thorough understanding of how to use performance data to monitor standards of attainment and to plan appropriate interventions

Excellent oral and written communication skills and confidence in the use of new technologies.

About Havelock Academy

Located in the town of Grimsby, Lincolnshire, Havelock Academy is a co-educational secondary school. Havelock has around 1000 pupils aged 11-18, making it slightly larger than the average secondary school. The school has an economically diverse catchment area, a fact reflected in its student intake. Originally known as Havelock school, it was established in the 1960s, adopting its current name in 2007 upon its conversion to an academy. The school is part of the David Ross Education Trust, a multi-academy trust responsible for a large number of schools across the Midlands and the north of England.
