Witchford Village College is an expanding village college for Years 7 to 11 located two miles west of the historic city of Ely and we are part of the Eastern Learning Alliance.

We require an enthusiastic and highly motivated Head of Computing to join a successful and dynamic team. As a school, we are innovative in realising the potential of all our students and we offer an excellent, supportive environment in which to work. There is an extensive CPD programme for all staff and the Computing department is highly collaborative across the ELA, which leads to the production of excellent resources for students. Students enjoy their lessons, and the subject contributes to a Good, vibrant school with above average outcomes for students.

All students at WVC study Computing in Years 7 to 9 and the curriculum encompasses 3 complementary disciplines: Computer Science, Digital literacy and Information technology. Of these disciplines, our curriculum is split into 5 strands that spiral throughout the key stage:

•      Algorithms

•      Programming & development

•      Data & data representation

•      Hardware & Processing

•      Communication, networks & information technology


Computational thinking is a central concept in our curriculum and embedded throughout discreetly.

Students can continue their study in Key Stage 4 be choosing OCR GCSE Computer Science as one of their option choices. Computer Science GCSE is a popular choice where students are keen to develop their programming and subject knowledge.

Duties will include:

·         Leadership of the Department

·         Development of the Curriculum

·         Day-to-day management of the department

·         Leading department meetings

·         Oversight over assessment and marking

·         Analysis of KS3 and KS4 data

·         Interventions

·         Suggesting CPD areas for the department

 

The successful applicant will:

·         Demonstrate a track record of success

·         Have a keen understanding of curriculum mapping

·         Be able to lead and support a team

·         Be an outstanding teacher

·         Have a vision for the department

·         Have taught at both KS3 and KS4
