Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a successful department in an oversubscribed grammar school situated on the London Kent border, with easy access to both central London and the wonderful Kent countryside.

Townley Grammar School is a multicultural girls’ selective school of 1600 with a co-educational Sixth Form of over 400 where we pride ourselves on our bright, articulate and engaging students. At Townley we offer high-quality education in a vibrant, innovative learning environment; where students and staff feel valued and supported. We are passionate about helping every student achieve their full potential in a caring, inclusive community.

We are looking for a passionate and inspirational leader to manage a well-resourced, highly skilled and successful department that is part of a wider STEM cluster. Computing is taught to all students in Key Stage 3 and is one of the most popular subjects at Key Stage 4 and 5. This would be an ideal opportunity for an experienced teacher to begin their next step in their teaching career in a department who values team work and a friendly working environment.

We welcome applications from either experienced teachers or current Curriculum Leaders and the ability to teach to A’ level is essential.

We provide a full and robust induction programme for all new members of staff, as part of the school’s Staff Development Programme and encourage professional development across the school including opportunities to share ideas for improving teaching and learning.

We also offer a bespoke and personalised range of pathway opportunities, including NPQML, NPQSL and opportunities to study for a Diploma or Masters with Buckingham University.  This position will provide a sound foundation for further promotion within the Odyssey Trust and beyond.

Townley Grammar School is committed to the wellbeing and happiness of staff.  We have an extensive programme of wellbeing sessions for all staff and are committed to providing a positive and supportive working environment for all.

Rated as Outstanding by OFSTED in November 2015, some of the key findings are:
