With over 6,500 students and a turnover of £26m, the College is in a strong position to continue to move forward and grow.  The College has distinct ambitions to expand its choice of programmes and services to meet the needs of the local community and support the economic transformation of Wigan and surrounding areas.  The College has created a community that encourages all students to enhance their learning through wider opportunities and support services; to maximise their achievements and secure progression onto further study and employment.

Can you inspire a generation of graphic, fashion and product designers, dancers, actors, musicians, sculptors and fine artists? This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking, enthusiastic and highly productive department at an exciting time in their development. We provide students with the technical skills and knowledge needed for careers across the creative sector and have extensive alumni of successful and professional working artists.  You will have an excellent proven track record of coordinating teaching, learning and assessment and development of practical and vocational programmes, as well as a current and strong understanding of curriculum opportunities and developments in creative arts and FE education. We deliver from Level 1 to 4 courses in Art & Design, Fashion, FAD, Music, Games Design and Performing Arts with a strong high grade profile.

As a capable and strategic curriculum manager, you will coordinate and line manage a diverse and exceptionally skilled and experienced team. Delivering courses in partnership with other institutions, you will also have a strong ability to develop productive relationships with your colleagues, learners and new opportunities with external partners and other areas in the college. Your ideas of how employable skills can be creatively included in the curriculum and assessing learner progress will be innovative and motivating as well as thorough.

Applicants for this post must have a commitment to leading and delivering outstanding teaching and learning. The department requires a leader that has a strong vocational background in this or a related context, a proven track record in delivering outstanding results and a vision for creating a curriculum that offers a unique learning experience.  The post holder will be based across campuses in Wigan and Leigh and would have the opportunity of developing a responsive curriculum which would incorporate the development of a range of successful programmes, including Apprenticeships and Higher Education, placing Wigan and Leigh College as a leader in the provision of Construction and Civil Engineering.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the new College Management Team on its journey to outstanding and to be part of a College which is dedicated to the success of its students.  The College reserves the right to interview for this post should we receive suitable candidates prior to the closing date.  The successful candidate will be required to apply for a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Enhanced check.  The College is only accepting direct applicants for this role, no agency contact is required.
