Tes is supporting the appointment of an experienced, creative and inspirational professional to join a team as Head of Dance in September 2023 at a School based in Reading. In this role, you will lead on dance activities within the School, raising the profile of dance.

Founded in 1646, the School is a leading independent day school of circa 800 pupils from ages 11 to 18. The School is located on a beautiful 46-acre campus in the village of Sonning, just outside Reading.

The School employs more than 180 staff, of whom 50% are academic staff, and provides a stimulating, friendly and supportive atmosphere in which each pupil can realise his or her full intellectual, physical, and creative potential.

In this role, you will lead on dance activities within the School, raising the profile of dance and ensuring that wide dance opportunities are available to the pupils. You will manage peripatetic teachers and work closely with all members of the Drama and Dance department on dance related issues.

The ideal candidate will have experience of teaching dance, specifically the following syllabi: RAD, ISTD, IDTA and a proven track record of success within the subject area. Your experience will include theatre choreography, running extra-curricular clubs and activities and working with dance companies and/or practitioners.

This role is a part time role, working across the school day with specific days to be agreed.
