HEAD OF DEPARTMENT/ATHLETIC DIRECTOR SECONDARY PE REQUIRED FOR AUGUST 2017 START
A BSO ‘Outstanding School’ (March 2016), Modern English School Cairo is a well-established, international, coeducational, independent school located on a generously-equipped 8.2 acre landscaped campus in the emerging district of New Cairo. With over 2200 students (890 in Secondary), MES Cairo serves to develop the next generation of Egyptian leaders offering a pre-K through university preparatory academic programme.
We seek to appoint an experienced teacher of Physical Education to lead our Secondary Department comprising five qualified subject specialists and sports assistant. All Secondary students in both British and US Sections of our Secondary school have PE featured in their timetable. The HOD ensures that curriculum delivery and assessment aligns to the philosophy and standards of each section. Campus facilities to support the teaching of PE and Athletics programme include: a JV-spec football field, Sports Hall, Basketball courts, weights gym, Multi-purpose Halls and all-season swimming pool complex.
The team is an integral part of the Secondary staff, all of whom continuously strive to ‘Care, Challenge and Inspire’.
Suitable candidates will be experienced teachers/leaders of PE as a core subject of Secondary curricula and extra-curricular with a draw to an active school life in a vibrant, diverse and exciting city. Key responsibilities of this significant post include: coordinating the PE team, quality assuring curriculum delivery and assessment, coordinating the Secondary Athletics programme (training and competition), utilizing facilities and resources in consultation with the reciprocal post-holder in our Primary Section. The HOD is well supported in their work by a committed and effective Secondary Senior Leadership Team.
