The Manchester College is based at many sites across the city, each with its own specialist cutting edge facilities within a friendly and supportive environment. One of the main sites for the Creative Industries is a brand-new City Campus Manchester situated in the very heart of Manchester city centre, just a two-minute walk away from Manchester Victoria.

The Campus offers courses to school leavers and adults within the creative and digital sectors. It is home to our Industry Excellence Academies for Computing and Digital, Creative and Digital Media; Hospitality and Catering and Music, as well as our Centre of Excellence for Performing Arts and Visual Arts. We are the largest FE college in the UK providing education and training to a wide range of learners. 

We now have an exciting opportunity to join the Creative Industries management team as Head of Department (Media) on a permanent, full time (37 hours) basis.

The successful candidate will have high standards, a passion to drive the department forward and will be a leading figure in the Creative Industries management team in working towards our College 2025 Strategy and our journey to outstanding.

As a Head of Department, you will report to the Assistant Principal in the management and operation of the Department. You will work with the Assistant Principal to effectively manage budgets and resources in diverse and innovative ways to bring about excellent teaching and learning. You will be responsible for the direct line management of teaching and support staff to ensure delivery of an outstanding quality focused education. Furthermore, you will be required to deliver and promote high quality, student focused teaching and learning within the area.

In order to do this, you will need:

A degree level qualification or relevant industrial experience or professional qualificationRecognised teaching qualification and be qualified to deliver curriculum, internally verify and moderate qualification awards Demonstrate a track record of line management English and Maths - must be qualified to a minimum of Level 2
