Job overview

The Junior and Senior Schools Leidschenveen (JSL & SSL) are looking to appoint an exceptional Physical Education practitioner from September 2019 who will use their experience, extensive subject knowledge and vision to grow and lead a dynamic and forward thinking PE department. This is a truly exciting opportunity for an existing or aspiring Head of PE to further develop our sports provision for both Junior and Senior Schools and to work in collaboration with the Physical Education teams across the BSN. Our vision is to create a highly successful and cohesive 3-18 PE team and curriculum on the Leidschenveen site.

Junior School Leidschenveen is an established, outstanding 3-11 campus whilst Senior School Leidschenveen will be entering its second year of existence with about 100 students in Years 7 & 8, ultimately growing to provide education until 18.

The Head of PE will contribute to the overall leadership and management within the campuses and be active in promoting its aims, and supporting an ethos that promotes achievement and outstanding learning and teaching. In addition, the Head of PE will contribute to sports activities already scheduled across the BSN and other local, national and international competitions.

A brand new sports building is currently under construction on the Leidschenveen site and it is an expectation that the Head of PE will lead the growth and development of this facility connecting wherever possible with the local community.

Initially the majority of teaching will be based around Yrs1-6 (as well as providing support and advice for the Early Years teams) but an important aspect of the role will also be to grow and develop the senior school curriculum (including preparation for the first GCSE cohort and cross-House, cross-campus activities and competitions).
