Job overview

Head of Department (Science)

Are you a successful Science leader and teacher with a strong track record of improving academic outcomes for young people looking for a new challenge within an exciting, innovative and supportive school? Do you seek a post with amazing opportunities to share your passion for Science within an environment where you will be valued and supported?

We are delighted to offer a great opportunity to lead our Science faculty here at Cockshut Hill. We are seeking to appoint an ambitious, excellent teacher and leader who is passionate about their subject and can evidence proven success in nurturing an environment within which everyone can reach their full potential – students and staff alike.

Join us and you will be part of a dynamic, enthusiastic and committed Science department and academy team. You will lead this forward-thinking team across Key Stages 3 and 4 and the whole ability range, working together to create an extremely positive learning culture based on high expectations, the building of Science skills and a huge passion for

your subject. The role offers excellent opportunities for a well-qualified, creative specialist who will build on the success of the department and who is willing to commit to extra-curricular activities that add value to our school and community.

We believe in working collaboratively, sharing ideas and supporting each other to achieve great things as we further develop innovative teaching and learning strategies. This post will offer the successful applicant the opportunity to work with colleagues from across our trust and beyond to develop best practice and collaboratively plan for the delivery of an

outstanding, innovative curriculum. You should be able to teach across the ability range for KS3 and KS4 and have a real interest in developing teaching and learning.

Cockshut Hill School is part of the Summit Learning Trust comprising Cockshut Hill, Lyndon School, Ninestiles, an Academy, four primary schools and the Solihull Sixth Form College. There is a strong culture of safeguarding and staff work positively with the leadership team to ensure students are kept safe.
