About Torquay Boys' Grammar School

We are an academically selective school set on a beautiful, green site on the edge of Torquay in South Devon. Since 1904, we have been educating able boys and for the past decade have extended our intake to able girls in the Sixth Form. Our most recent inspection was in 2007, when the school was adjudged to be outstanding for the third time in succession. Since then, the feedback we have received and the evidence of our students’ excellent examination results suggest that we are continuing to provide a first-class education. Our Progress 8 score was +0.78 in 2018 and the average Attainment 8 score was 72.34 per student. Likewise, in the Sixth Form we are ranked amongst the highest ranking schools in the country. Our average International Baccalaureate Diploma grade last year was a phenomenal 38. We are, moreover, a school that endeavours to provide a truly holistic education and which places a high value on the wellbeing of staff and students.
