Head of Design Engineering

Wellington College is one of the world’s leading co-educational boarding and day schools and has an enviable reputation for excellence and innovation. We are currently looking for an experienced, well-organised and highly motivated teacher to head up our Design Engineering team.

As a department we strongly believe a blend of CAD,CAE, CNC manufacture and multi-media technology can enrich both student learning and teaching effectiveness. Our facilities include a newly re-furbished and well-resourced workshop, three classrooms equipped with VR and a Harkness discussion room. Join us, and you could soon be leading, developing and motivating our highly professional team and delivering inspirational and informative lessons to our pupils.

In addition to general teaching responsibilities, we will rely on you to manage, lead and coordinate the activities of the department and ensure colleagues can access the material resources they need. Fostering a collaborative, collegial and supportive departmental team. Helping to recruit and induct new staff and supporting the professional development, morale and wellbeing of staff – all are aspects of a role that will also see you contribute fully to the extra-curricular and pastoral life of the College.

To succeed, you will need a good level degree in a directly related subject. You will also need a thorough knowledge of the 13-18 subject curriculum and experience of managing change and improvement. Smart and professional in appearance, you are a dedicated team player who strives for excellence and leads by example. Also, you will have the communication skills it takes to enable effective dialogue with pupils, parents, staff and visitors alike.
