Job overview

Competitive salary

Sibford School in the Cotswolds was proud to be rated excellent in its December 2021 ISI report; for both the quality of pupils’ academic and other achievements and for the quality of pupils’ personal development.

“The school successfully meets its aim to provide pupils with a thirst for lifelong learning”

We are seeking to appoint a confident and innovative Head of Design Technology (including Food Technology) for an immediate start. The successful candidate will teach pupils across the secondary age range, as well as Year 6 pupils in the Junior School and inspire students in both subject areas.

 “Pupils display advanced moral development”

This is an exciting time to join Sibford School. Numbers at GCSE in both Design Technology and Food Technology are strong and from this academic year, students have opted to study BTEC Level 3 Food and Nutrition. We have specialist teaching facilities that are well resourced and supported by a technician.

“Pupils are confident decision makers”

The successful candidate should be enthusiastic, creative, passionate about both subject areas, but may be stronger in one discipline. We want to hear from those who recognise the transferable skills between Design Technology and Food Technology and are keen to use those skills innovatively. They will be resilient and engaging and will be able to contribute to positive outcomes for our young people and to the wider school community.

We would be pleased to consider requests for part time or flexible hours.

Competitive Salary dependent on experience.

Benefits include APTIS teachers pension, 18 weeks holiday, generous school fee discount, free school lunches and free parking.

Sibford School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Successful applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and an enhanced DBS check.

The School aims to recruit staff that share and understand our commitment and to ensure that no job applicant is treated unfairly by reason of a protected characteristic as defined within the Equality Act 2010.

Closing date for applications: Monday 28th November at 12 noon.

Interview dates: Thursday 1st December and Friday 2nd December 2022.

Sibford School is set in more than 50 acres of grounds and is surrounded by glorious Oxfordshire countryside.

Established in 1842 as a co-educational boarding school for the children of Quaker families, Sibford has, from the outset, been a centre of educational excellence.

Over the years the school has undergone many changes and developments, as it has adapted to meet the needs and aspirations of its pupils. However, the Quaker values that seek to recognise that of God in everyone have remained constant. Translated into everyday life, this means valuing and nurturing individual talents, respecting each other and helping each individual to become the very best they possibly can.

Today Sibford School accommodates both day pupils and boarders and is currently home to over 430 pupils aged between 3 and 18. We are privileged to be a varied and international community and welcome children of all faiths and none and from many different nations.

Sibford is an academically strong school. We achieve excellent results at GCSE and A Level and aim to cultivate a thirst for life-long learning. We have a well-established reputation for enabling pupils with a range of learning requirements but we are also passionate about the long-term mental health and emotional well-being of our pupils. At junior level, this means giving them space and time outdoors to enjoy their childhood. And, as they get older, it means helping them to become rounded, community minded, confident and respectful young people.

Our enviable location means that outdoor learning forms an important part of our junior, and, increasingly, our senior curriculum.
