Nelson and Colne College are looking for professional and motivated individual to join the College Leadership Team as Head of Division, Construction & Motor Vehicle, on a full time permanent basis.  This role would be based at our Construction & Motor Vehicle department at the Accrington and Rossendale College site, although regular travel to our Nelson & Colne College site is essential. 


 Accrington and Rossendale College is an award winning provider of Further Education, Higher Education & Work Based Training; we offer quality education and training to the people of Hyndburn, Rossendale & beyond. We currently offer Vocational and Apprenticeship programmes, at different levels, in 11 subject areas including Hospitality and Catering, Motor Vehicle Engineering, and Construction Trades. The successful candidate will play an integral role in the College Leadership Team and take responsibility for the quality of teaching, learning and assessment throughout the Construction & Motor Vehicle Division.


Duties include:

• Lead and manage all staff within the Construction & Motor Vehicle Division.

• Be responsible for curriculum planning, development and implementation in the Construction & Motor Vehicle Division.

• Engage in curriculum development and planning activities for the Division

• Take responsibility for improving and reporting on recruitment, retention, achievement, progress toward target, and destinations for the Construction & Motor Vehicle Division.

• Manage Divisional consumable and staffing budgets efficiently

• Hold regular Divisional meetings and ensure sections run effectively and efficiently, monitoring section and other team meetings ensuring targets are met.


The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria:

• Knowledge of and proven ability to deliver the curriculum successfully for 3 years or more.

• Evidence of successful staff management and the ability to inspire and motivate others.

• Evidence of developing new curriculum models that deliver outstanding outcomes and are cost effective.

• Degree in a relevant subject area

• Recognised teaching qualification

• A higher degree or management qualification (Desirable)
