We are looking for an exceptional leader to join our inclusion team. If you are an English as an Additional Language Specialist looking for an opportunity to make your mark in transforming a school with huge capacity for improvement, this is the perfect role for you.  As Head of EAL, you will have academy wide responsibilities for the support of EAL students, who make up a large percentage of our student body. You will run programmes, provision, and intervention to support students with their learning; you will help to train staff; you will work to improve student outcomes; you will make strategic decisions to support continuous development of EAL learning across the academy.

At The Totteridge Academy, we strongly believe in giving autonomy to staff and are open to creative and innovative ideas. This is a critical strategic role in the academy’s future as the development of EAL provision is crucial to our transformational journey.

The Totteridge Academy joined United Learning in October, 2016 and is going through significant change. This exciting role provides the ideal opportunity for an ambitious and dynamic teacher and leader with vision to help shape an ethos of care, respect, high achievement, and challenge. The last Ofsted inspection in 2015 judged the school as ‘requiring improvement’ but the school has already started its journey of rapid progress and we are confident in being an outstanding school in the future. We achieved our best ever GCSE results this summer with 67% of students achieving 5 or more A* - C grades including a 4 or above in both English and Maths; this is a 27 percentage point increase from last year. The challenge remains as we aim to continue this development and progress.

As a member of our dynamic staff you will help shape the lives of our fantastic students and play an important role in the academy’s future. We believe that the best teachers are continuously striving to improve. We are committed to developing our people and, as part of the largest group of academies and independent schools, we offer unrivalled professional development and career progression.

This is an exciting time to join The Totteridge Academy; if you share our high expectations and are passionate about making a difference then we look forward to receiving your application. Please contact Donna Abel (donna.abel@tta.org.uk) for more information.

The Totteridge Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all who work at the school to share this commitment.  Successful applicants will be subject to an enhanced disclosure through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
