Salary Negotiable Dependent on Experience

We are seeking to appoint an inspirational practitioner to lead the Economics and Business studies department to KS4 and KS5. The ideal candidate will be a well qualified teacher who has the ability to manage the department effectively. They will have a real love of Economics and Business studies and a keen enthusiasm to share this with both staff and pupils. We are seeking a candidate with vision, drive and sound judgement to help us maintain our strong Marist values.

The main purpose of the job role:

  • Reporting to senior management team on public examination results
  • Foster a love for the subject by developing and implementing a vision for the department
  • Preparing pupils for GCSE Business Studies and A Level Economics and Business Studies
  • Promoting Economics and Business Studies within the school
  • Help to prepare any Sixth Form pupil who is an Oxbridge candidate
  • Keeping informed of current developments in these subject areas

The Ideal Candidate will need to have the following Skill Set:

  • Have excellent subject knowledge in both Economics and Business Studies and be able to teach both subjects to KS4 and KS5
  • Have an innovative and interactive approach to teaching
  • Be a strong team player
  • Enthusiastic and exceptional teacher with a proven record of excellent results in public examinations
  • Experience of challenging,developing and enhancing the teaching practice of others
  • Experience of quality assurance in managing and monitoring the performance of staff
  • Promoting the use of ICT as a learning tool throughout the department
  • Successful introduction and effective use of data analysis, bench-marking and target setting information and ability to communicate this effectively to others
  • Ability and enthusiasm to promote the schools vision, values and achievements to the local and wider communities
  • Quick learner
  • Ability to demonstrate personal and emotional resilience
  • Willingness to devote time in developing this post and the extra- curricular life of the school
  • Experience managing a team
  • Experience working with young people in a pastoral capacity( e.g. Form Tutor)
