Streatham & Clapham High School has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Teacher of Economics to play a key role in leading our thriving Economics department.

As Head of Economics, you will oversee the day-to-day running of the department, managing resources, budgets, assessments and co-curricular activities. In the classroom, you will exemplify best practice in teaching and learning, ensuring that these high standards are shared throughout the department, maintaining and developing them wherever possible. To compound this, you will oversee the delivery of the Economics curriculum and will ensure that it meets the educational needs of all students, allowing them to fulfil their potential within the subject.

You will be an experienced Teacher, with a background of teaching Economics at secondary level up to and including Sixth Form. You will possess extensive knowledge of Economics as well as the national and examination curricular requirements of the subject. You will be a team worker, with a strong set of decision making and communication skills.

SCHS is abuzz with activity.  Pupils regularly put on ambitious drama productions.  The school has four choirs, a full orchestra and a variety of chamber-music groups.  Its pupils participate in a legion of sporting activities, in which they achieve great success.  SCHS’s Gymnastics teams, for instance, were the best in England in the 2012 National Gymnastics Competition.  However, pupils attain success across the spectrum of activity, from achieving outstanding results in public-speaking competitions, to winning prizes for the crash-testing of vehicles at Imperial College; from gaining awards for eco-action and sustainability, to trekking across the Atlas Mountains in Morocco or to the base camp of Mount Everest.
