Job overview

We have an exciting opening for an experienced individual to lead, the development and delivery of formal and informal education at RBGE.

Based in Edinburgh and supporting our three regional gardens, the post holder will be responsible for the overall leadership and management of our education team, covering a remit that ranges from schools, short course and vocational certificates through to our graduate and post-graduate courses, both taught and on-line programmes.

You’ll be joining a dedicated and highly motivated team of staff and volunteers at an exciting time in our 350th anniversary year. Utilising your strong strategic, leadership and organisational skills you’ll be developing and delivering our future Education offer within the backdrop of the Edinburgh Biomes Project – the largest building programme in RBGE history! This is literally a once in a generation opportunity to forge our learning programmes for the future.

You will bring with you a strong proven track record in leadership and development from an FE/HE environment and be ideally well grounded in either horticulture, plant sciences or a related field.   Line management experience will be an essential component, along with an ability to manage budgets, along with and ability to advocate and steer others through change. You’ll need to be able to communicate well both verbally and in writing, and have well-developed influencing skills to make the role a success.

Full details of the post, including a job description and person specification, can be found on our website www.rbge.org.uk/about-us/vacancies.

Interested applicants should send a CV and covering letter outlining the skills and experience you could bring to the post, plus a completed equal opportunities questionnaire from our website to recruitment@rbge.org.uk by midday GMT on 1st November.
