Job overview

Coventry has a thriving Education System and is an exciting place to work. We’ve built strong partnerships across our school family and 88% of Coventry children now attend good or outstanding primary and secondary schools compared to 58% in August 2012. All our special schools are good or outstanding. Coventry’s education system includes two top-class universities: Warwick and Coventry who are ranked 8th and 12th in the Guardian University Guide 2018. The city has just won the bid for City of Culture 2021.

We are looking for someone who can build on this successful track record, taking our transformation journey to the next level. You’ll lead on our school improvement agenda, continuing to take school performance to the next level, ensuring high quality provision for all our children and young people.

Working in the People Directorate, with the Director of Education, Libraries and Adult Learning, you will be a leader with energy, passion and belief, someone with a successful track record in a strategic school leadership role with emotional intelligence and leadership skills to bring people with you. You’ll be at home in a complex environment with multiple stakeholders and, crucially, you’ll be wholly committed to achieving the very best and to putting Coventry’s learners at the heart of everything you do. In return, you’ll work with a talented and creative team, one that will support and challenge you every step of the way.
