Novus is the UK`s largest provider of education, training and employability programmes to offenders, delivering its provision to more than 100,000 learners.

Head of Education, Permanent - Full Time (37hrs per week)

Rainsbrook Secure Training Centre in Willoughby, Warwickshire is a custodial establishment for Children and Young People (CYP), aged between the ages of 12 and 18. There are currently around 55 CYP in the centre with an operational capacity of 76. All CYP work towards English and maths qualifications, as well as ICT, Personal and Social Development, PE and vocational pathways which include hair and beauty, creative arts, hospitality and catering, sports studies and horticulture.

We are now looking to appoint an exceptional individual to lead the education and support team as Head of Education. The role is to deliver services that maximise access to education, opportunity and achievement for all Children and Young People to enhance their employment or further education upon release.

The Head of Education post provides an exciting opportunity to drive forward the quality of education provision at Rainsbrook, and ensure our partnership relationships with MTCnovo who are the STC Operator remain positive and effective.

We are looking for an exceptional individual who can motivate and lead the education team to ensure that every learner is provided with the skills, qualifications and knowledge they need to have a brighter future. This is a real opportunity to make a significant impact to help turn the lives around of CYP.

The successful candidate will be an experienced leader and strategic thinker with the ability to build relationships both internally with staff and learners, and externally with key partners. You`ll have proven experience of working with young people and have a background of managing a complex education service and leading a team effectively. You`ll be able to maximise quality within a challenging environment, so you`ll need to be tenacious, flexible and resilient.

Children’s Services, a part of G4S, runs three purpose built Secure Training Centres (STCs) on behalf of the Youth Justice Board (YJB). Teams of committed people look after young people aged 12 to 17 years old who have been remanded or sentenced to periods of detention. We work closely with the Home Office, the Youth Justice Board for England and Wales and the Ministry of Justice, to ensure that our approach to regimes and designs reflect best practice in residential care to prevent re-offending.

Located near Rugby, Warwickshire, Rainsbrook STC opened in July 1999 and was originally designed to accommodate  40 young males. In 2002 the centre expanded to accommodate a total of 76 boys and girls. In October 2006, Rainsbrook STC opened Chadlington, a purpose built mother and baby unit to care for detained young mothers and their babies, as well as those in the final stages of pregnancy.
