The Business and Enterprise faculty is large and diverse and encompasses areas such as Business, Hair and Beauty and Hosptiality, Aviation and Travel and Tourism though your main concentration will be on full time Study Programme students and Apprentices studying Funtional Skills.  

The Head of English & Maths will be the lead on embedding innovative delivery models for English and Maths provision of Functional Skills for study programme students and for apprentices, and as such will need to include models for classroom, blended and distance delivery.   

In your role as Faculty Head of English and Maths you will ensure that innovation and exceptional teaching is at the heart of the English and Maths delivery throughout the Business and Enterprise Faculty. The Head of English and Maths will drive improvement in the Functional skills attendance and achievement of all eligible students raising Functional skills standards and driving a positive culture of high aspiration and continuous improvement and thereby enriching the student experience.  

You will also have responsibility for ensuring that all students within the Faculty who should be attending GCSE English and Maths are doing so and are committed to the course. NB Delivery of GCSE rests within the English and Maths Faculty and not within the Vocational Faculty as does adult Functional skills for those adults who are not attending full time study programmes courses or on an apprenticeship within a faculty.  You will be a vital part of the Business and Enterprise Faculty Leadership team, led by the Assistant Principal - Business and Enterprise who will be your line manager.  

You will also have a “dotted line” to the Assistant Principal English and Maths who has the role of coordinating FS English and Maths delivery across college, you will also work closely with your peer Heads of English and Maths in the other college faculties ensuring there is a combined approach across the college.   

You will have peers in the faculty, Head of Academy Business, Head of Academy Hospitality and Travel and Tourism,  Head of Academy Hair and Beauty,  Head of Student Experience, Head of QTLA, and Head of Apprenticeships,who will all work alongside you to ensure the overall student experience and outcomes are ever improving.   

Degree level qualified with a recognised teaching qualification, you will have successful leadership and management experience in education and a passion and strong track record of impact and  improvement for English and Maths. 

You will also have successful leadership and management experience in education and a vocational background in any one of the areas within the faculty curriculum as listed above.
