Following the internal promotion of the existing post holder we are seeking to appoint a dynamic, talented and ambitious leader to join our team with a proven track record, in both raising achievement and demonstrating leadership traits. We are looking for a candidate who is committed to maintaining and improving the high standards set within The Bishop of Winchester Academy. You will be an excellent, enthusiastic and experienced leader and classroom practitioner, with the ability to teach at all levels and have the leadership skills and attributes to bring to lead an enthusiastic, passionate and successful science team. This is a fantastic opportunity that would suit an ambitious candidate, to further their experience, who has the desire to be part of an academy team that is dedicated to raising standards and providing quality provision for its students.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A track record of successful A Level and GCSE English teaching
  • Excellent leadership skills and the vision to lead a highly successful English team
  • Outstanding classroom and interpersonal skills 
  • The ability to motivate students and achieve excellent results 
  • Excellent organisational and ICT skills 
  • An understanding of, and ability to use data to raise standards and attainment

The successful candidate will be joining an Academy where all Academy staff are driven by the mantra “high expectations - no excuses” and are determined, committed and focused on inspiring students to succeed.

About The Bishop of Winchester Academy

The Bishop of Winchester Academy, based in Bournemouth, Dorset, is a Church of England secondary school that prides itself on its curriculum, governance and outstanding student behaviour. Students aged 11-18 experience teaching in new state-of-the-art buildings and have first-class resources at their fingertips. The school operates in an area where there are schools that select for entry on grounds of ability.

The mixed secondary school was opened in September 2010 as a sponsor-led academy. In September 2014, the Bishop of Winchester Academy extended its educational opportunities by opening its own sixth form.
