Head of English Faculty

We want to appoint a dedicated, creative, inspiring, and energetic Teacher of English to direct English throughout our 11-16 Academy, leading our English Department and Faculty, and helping to develop and improve the quality of teaching, learning, pedagogy, and classroom practice.  We are looking for someone with the expertise and credibility to become a SLE and contribute to our system leadership work, supporting leadership development in English across our Teaching School Hub. 

St Anne’s CoE Academy is located in Middleton, Greater Manchester, and easily commutable from most of the cities and towns in the North West via the M60, M62, M6, and M56.

English is a large, well-resourced, and correspondingly important department within the Academy, with modern and fully-equipped classrooms, and an office for the Faculty’s exclusive use. The Head of Faculty will lead six specialist English teachers including an experienced deputy. There is potential to appoint to a third post of responsibility in English when the new Head of Faculty is established and has evaluated needs and priorities. 

This post would be ideal for an outstanding practitioner, passionate and informed about the best classroom practice in English, with ambition and drive, (perhaps even as a head or second in a related subject or department) and who sees a faculty leadership position as the next step in their career.
