This is an exceptional opportunity to lead English throughout our wonderful school. Upton House is at an exciting stage in its history. It is an inspiring learning environment and highly regarded. We are situated in the heart of Windsor within easy walking distance to the castle and town centre. We have 251 children; Co-ed to 7years. 

We are seeking to appoint an experienced and outstanding Head of English to join the talented team here. As Head of English, the successful applicant must have proven experience of teaching English in Pre Prep and Prep (Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2) to a very high standard. We have a real love of literacy here at Upton House and the Head of English would have a passion for all aspects of English and be able to inspire all ages. An understanding of EYFS would be desirable as the successful candidate would teach English in the Prep department, but have a clear over view and understanding of English throughout the school.   They would be expected to be a strong role model, deliver outstanding teaching, input development plans and monitor progress in their subject.

We place great emphasis on providing a supportive and caring educational environment and pastoral care is a key element of life at Upton House. With small classes teachers are able to educate, encourage and nurture pupils on an individual level. The school works with a forwards looking and experienced Governing body with a wide range of skills from within the academic, financial and commercial sectors, as well as a very supportive an active parent body.

There may be the possibility for the right candidate to also take up the role of Head of Prep. We are currently seeking a new Head of Prep internally and externally, and the two roles may be combined. As Head of Prep you would be expected to play a full and active part in the life of Upton House, working alongside the Headmistress and SLT planning and developing all aspects of school life.  You would lead the Prep team with weekly departmental meetings, strong communication, well thought out guidance and attention to detail. You would need to be an inspiring role model for your team.

Upton House School is a independent co-educational preparatory school in Windsor, Berkshire. The school was first opened in 1936, and is located on a one acre site in the centre of Windsor. In 2008 the two-storey facility Little Upton was opened, containing pre-nursery and nursery rooms with access to an outdoor play area. There are approximately 295 students on the school roll. Upton House is denominationally Christian, and is a registered charity.
