Head of English, Middle school (TLR 2)

Responsibilities

KGV is seeking to  appoint an inspirational TLR2 to join our high achieving, student  centered department, consisting of 15 full-time teachers. As well as  being an outstanding classroom practitioner, the successful candidate  should expect to play a full part in the leadership and co-curricular  life of the school. There are four post holders within English who work  closely together. The position will be a full-time two years contract  starting August 2019, renewable by mutual consent.

Key roles and responsibilities include:
• Developing the teaching of English Language
• Leading curriculum development and assessment quality assurance of teaching within our 3 year MYP programme
• Evaluating progress in the use of coaching for reading
• Leading moderation for some MYP and IGCSE assessments
• Collaborating with other Learning Areas in developing the curriculum
• Supporting the administration of examination entries for IGCSE
• Managing resources for IB Language and Literature
• Monitoring intervention for language iGCSE – Y10 and Y11 resit candidates (revision sessions)

Requirements

• Bachelor Degree in  Education, or Bachelor Degree in any subjects with PGCE (Postgraduate  Certificate of Education), or equivalent
• 2-4 years teaching experience within a recognised educational organisation
