Salary and Benefit

Salary is competitive and will be dependent upon the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. The initial contract will have a term of two (2) years,

The School

Changchun American International School (CAIS) is the first and only IB authorized international school for Pre-K- 12 offering the Primary Years Programmae (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP) in Northeast China. The school serves host country children, as well as China’s global expatriate communities.

CAIS has received from the International Standards Organization the ISO 9000 certification on quality assurance and quality management in education and training institutions.

CAIS offers nearly 40 different courses. Some of these include English, Mandarin, German, French, Spanish, Korean, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, History, Business and Management, Economics, Geography, Psychology, IT Global Society (ITGS), Art, Music, Media and Dance.

An extensive co-curricular program is offered to students, allowing them to develop hobbies and interests. In 2009, Virtual World 3D technology was introduced to CAIS. In 2013CAIS began its 1:1 iPad pilot program embracing the iPad as a valuable teaching tool. In 2014, Deutsche International School Changchun joined CAIS as German Section.

Faculty

CAIS employs 76 full-time and 6 part-time faculty members. Ninety percent of the teachers are expatriates with the majority coming from the U.S. and Canada with 21 countries represented. Changchun is a safe and interesting place to live with both the North Korean and Russian border being approximately 300 km away.

The Student Body

There are currently 452 students enrolled in the school, from Nursery to Grade 12 representing 31 different countries. Of the 252 students in the Elementary section, approximately 46% are host country nationals, 4% Korean, 27% German, and 23% other. The average class size is fifteen students.

Curriculum

The school offers the IBPYP, IBMYP and IBDP with instruction in English. An extensive English Language Learners program is provided to students needing additional support. Also, CAIS provides limited Learning Support for students.

About Changchun American International School

Changchun American International School (CAIS) is the first Pre-K -12 international school in Jilin Province and is authorized by Provincial and Central Governments. The school serves children of China’s global expatriate communities.

CAIS offers nearly 40 different courses.
