We are seeking to appoint a talented and inspirational Head of English to lead our English Faculty, who is dedicated to shaping a curriculum that brings language and literature to life and who will continue to develop our passionate and high performing team. We have been on an exciting journey, and you will play a crucial role in shaping the faculty and ensuring that language and literature plays a crucial and significant role in the development of our students.

The English Faculty is well resourced and has a talented and supportive team who have a track record of delivering excellent results for our students but also in developing a love of the subject with many students choosing to continue their studies in the sixth form where we offer A Levels in English Language, English Literature and Media Studies.

The successful candidate will be an exceptional classroom practitioner with a track record of achieving excellent outcomes, will be highly motivated and committed to making English at Wollaston exceptional. They will have the drive to inspire our team to even greater success and oversee and shape the curriculum’s delivery. Lead and mentor the team, enhancing their teaching practice and ensuring they have a clear vision and collaborate with other heads of subject to achieve a consistent and integrated methodology. They will promote the understanding and belief that every student can be successful.

Wollaston School is a large, rural community school located in a village setting about 15 minutes drive from Northampton. The student intake draws on nearby villages and the towns of Earls Barton, Wellingborough, and Irchester. We have over 1400 students on roll with approximately 240 students in the Sixth Form. The school is over-subscribed. Wollaston School was rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted in May 2023.
