Job overview

We are looking to appoint a Head of English to lead our rapidly developing English Department at Farnborough Academy in Clifton. 

As a middle leader in the academy you will have a key role in steering the department through a programme of school improvement, working closely with the Senior Leadership Team in the academy and across the other academies in Trent Academies Group. This is an exciting time for the academy which is on a steady road to improvement. 

To succeed in this role, you will have proven skills to inspire and motivate both pupils and colleagues across the academy. You will be passionate about ensuring that the English department delivers

high quality teaching consistently in all lessons and positively impacts across the whole curriculum. 

You will be creative as well as inspirational, committed to your own professional development and that of your colleagues in the faculty, the academy and across the Group. You will be able to lead by example to make an immediate impact on the progress of pupils. Most of all you will love English and want to recreate this in young people. 

The diversity within the Group provides fantastic opportunities for teachers to develop their practice and skills through networking and working co-operatively with colleagues across the academies.

Farnborough Spencer Academy launched on 1st September 2014 and officially converted to being part of the Spencer Academies Trust from 1st October 2018.The academy  provides the young people of Clifton and the surrounding areas with wide ranging opportunities. Firmly rooted in the local community ,our aim is to provide high quality education for up to 1000 young people giving everyone the chance to shine brightly.

The academy is on a path of rapid improvement and we are proud of how rapidly the quality of teaching and the behaviour of pupils has developed in the past two years leading to the best ever GCSE results in August 2018. Through excellent support and CPD opportunities for all staff provided by the Spencer Academies Trust we believe that this record will be broken in the next academic year.  We are now seeing an academy developing that the whole community can be very proud of.
