Head of English/Upper School Form Teacher

Falkner House is a very happy and successful selective school with extremely bright and enthusiastic children.   the advertised post is for the girls' school, however, there would be the opportunity to have significant links with the newly opened Falkner House boys' school in SW5.    The school has a very strong academic tradition, the pace is fast, learning is enjoyable and the English curriculum is broad.  Subject specialist teaching is firmly embedded within the school.  The successful candidate would teach English in Years 4, 5 and 6 with a supervisory role further down the school.  Heads of department have significant freedom to hone their own syllabus and tailor their curriculum utilising the ground-breaking iPad programme that Falkner House has created for the upper school children.  

The successful applicant will be motivated and passionate about English with a real interest in preparing girls for highly selective and competitive exams at 11+.  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required together with a strong work ethic and initiative.  Common sense, practicality, a very high standard of written and spoken English and above all a sense of humour are also required!  

This role would potentially suit someone who has taught English at a secondary level and or who has experience in the maintained sector.
