Head of English

Due to family commitments we are sad to lose the current Head of English after many years of distinguished service. We are seeking an appropriately qualified, enthusiastic teacher, with experience of teaching in Key Stage 1 and 2. The Head of English will be responsible for maintaining the high standards and leading the development of this department.

A knowledge of the new National Curriculum in KS1 and 2 is essential. The successful candidate will need to be a confident, committed, dynamic classroom practitioner and a caring professional with high expectations of pupil attainment, able to form excellent relationships with parents, pupils and colleagues. The post holder will be a Form Teacher and may be expected to teach other subjects across the curriculum to a high standard. A familiarity with Ruth Miskin’s Read Write Inc scheme would be an advantage.

Mayfield Preparatory School is a highly successful over-subscribed selective Independent School (IAPS) with over 200 boys and girls, aged 2 - 11 years.
