Glyn School is seeking to appoint an innovative, dynamic and passionate teacher to lead our successful English, Media & Literacy Department as Head of Faculty. Glyn has developed a reputation for challenging and stretching students with engaging and enriching teaching across all key stages. The successful applicant will be a part of Glyn School’s Extended Leadership and Management Team (ELMT) and will be central to the continuation and development of the outstanding teaching that takes place across the school. 

Glyn School is ideally situated just ten minutes’ walk from both Ewell East and Ewell West stations, both of which are approximately 20 minutes from Clapham Junction and within Zone 6.

Our high-performing English Department is an exceptional team with a strong group ethic. English, Media & Literacy are at the heart of the curriculum at Glyn. We are now seeking an inspirational Head of English to lead a highly successful faculty that continues to strive to become exceptional. Many of our Sixth Form students pursue English Language and Literature, and you will have the opportunity to teach A Level English. Our 2016 GCSE English result was 94% A*-C and A-Level students achieved 78% A*-C in English Literature.

The successful candidate will need to:

• Be an outstanding classroom practitioner

• Have excellent leadership and communication skills

• Be able to work as part of a team leading whole school learning and teaching

• Deliver whole school CPD

• Have a proven track record in achieving excellent student progress

• Have the drive and qualities to move the faculty from ‘outstanding’ to ‘exceptional’

• Provide support to colleagues as part of our successful coaching programme
