St Rita's College, in the Brisbane suburb of Clayfield, is a Catholic secondary school for girls with an enrolment of 1030 students.  St Rita's seeks applications from secondary teachers who excel in one or more disciplines within the Social Sciences and who hold or aspire Faculty leadership responsibilities.

The position of Head of Faculty - Social Science is charged with ensuring: 

  • appropriate pedagogies are developed and implemented through continuous professional growth and development in the subject areas of History, Economics, Geography and Modern History;
  • student learning and teacher practice are of the highest quality across the subject areas of History, Economics, Geography and Modern History.

The ability to teach within at least one Social Science subject area is required.

The Head of Faculty - Social Science leads the teaching and learning program within all disciplines of the Social Sciences offered at St Rita's College and carries responsibility for the ongoing development and supervison of the Social Sciences curriculum in line with national, state and local priorities.

In assisting our students to reach their personal and academic best, suitably qualified applicants should be highly competent in secondary school based Social Science programs and have ability to provide leadership and management of the learning program and of the professional development of staff within the Faculty.  

Applicants should embrace current pedagogical thinking, should hold the ability to effectively manage Social Science curricular programs and be able to demonstrate ability as an outstanding program coordinator with a commitment to student welfare.

  • Sound ability to teach at least one Social Science subject - either History, Economics, Geography and Modern History - is required
  • Sound ability to teach within one or more additional subject areas may be advantageous 
  • All applicants must hold current Queensland Teacher Registration

St Rita’s College is a Catholic all-girls, secondary, independent day school that offers education for students aged between 12-18. The non-selective school, located in Clayfield, Queensland, currently has 1,028 pupils on roll.
