Head of Phase (reduced timetable)  


Key Task:  To support the Assistant Principal in the leadership and management of the Foundation Stage

• Has experience of developing and improving other colleague’s classroom practice in a variety of ways.

• Is experienced in delivering training to a variety of groups.

Key responsibilities:


• To be a role model to all in all areas; professional conduct, professional teaching and learning practice and professional development.

• To oversee the Admissions of Foundation Stage pupils.

• To collaborate with other SLT members to ensure continuous school improvement.

• To ensure the day to day running of the phase is in line with our school vision and aims.

• To raise attainment and improve classroom practice in the phase.

• To lead and implement initiatives to successfully deliver school improvement priorities.

• To reflect on data analysis of the phase, with the Assistant Principal and devise and deliver an action plan securing continuous improvement. 

• To carry out joint lesson observations with SLT, and support colleagues to improve their classroom practice.

• To be involved in monitoring through work sampling, planning scrutiny and learning walks with the Assistant Principal.

• To oversee the role of Teaching Assistants working in their year groups; ensuring the Head of year has deployed staff resources appropriately.

• To line manage Heads of Year in the phase.

The Assistant Principals of lower and upper school will line manage their Heads of phase


About Mamoura British Academy

Al Mamoura Academy is a partly co-educational international school located in Abu Dhabi, first accepting an intake of students in 2016. The school has primary and secondary areas, with the school’s primary division being co-educational and secondary being girls-only. As a newly built school, Al Mamoura Academy is able to boast of a huge range of modern teaching and recreational facilities, such as an auditorium, a swimming pool, numerous sports courts and halls, as well as a fully equipped library and extensive IT facilities. The curriculum at Al Mamoura Academy is primarily based on the English curriculum in primary phases, whilst secondary phases offer a wider range of international qualifications including GCSEs and A-level studies as well as a US Curriculum pathway. The school also offers Arabic and Islamic studies programmes should students wish to study them. In addition to this, the school has a wide range of extra-curricular activities available for students to take part in.

Teaching staff at Al Mamoura Academy are expected to be highly-qualified in their chosen field, and to further develop their teaching skills whilst working at the school. This includes holding an undergraduate degree in the subject they wish to teach, as well as hold prior teaching experience and conform to a number of other requirements depending on the seniority of their position.
