Job overview

We are looking for an exceptional leader to join our team. If you are an outstanding geography teacher looking for an opportunity to make your mark in transforming a school with huge capacity for improvement, this is the perfect opportunity for you.

The school is under new leadership and joined United Learning in October 2016. This position provides the ideal opportunity for an ambitious and dynamic teacher with vision to help shape an ethos of care, respect, high achievement and challenge. The last Ofsted inspection in 2015 judged the school as ‘requiring improvement’ but the school has already started its journey of rapid progress and we are confident in being an outstanding school in the future. Over the last two years, results have increased dramatically from 40% to 69% of students gaining 5+ good passes including English and Maths and the Progress 8 score has improved from -0.45 to +0.41.

As Head of Geography you will be responsible for the teaching and learning, outcomes and continuous development of the department. You can also expect to play a strategic leadership role in the academy’s future as this is a position we feel is crucial to our transformational journey. The leadership team at The Totteridge Academy strongly believes in giving autonomy to outstanding middle leaders and is always open to creative and innovative ideas.

At The Totteridge Academy we believe that the best teachers and leaders are continuously striving to improve. We are committed to developing our people and, as part of the largest group of academies and independent schools in the country, we offer unrivalled professional development and career progression.

This is an exciting time to join The Totteridge Academy; if you share our high expectations and are passionate about making a difference then we look forward to receiving your application.

If you have any questions about this role then please contact Julie-Ann O’Malley, HR/Office Manager by email julie-ann.omalley@tta.org.uk

The Totteridge Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all who work at the school to share this commitment.  Successful applicants will be subject to an enhanced disclosure through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
