Job overview

We are looking to add an experienced middle leader to our Geography department to lead this amazing team. You will have a proven track record of academic success and the ability to implement an ambitious and knowledge rich curriculum.

You will be highly motivated, with unshakable integrity, and have a passion for working hard to support  our pupils to enjoy school, achieve academic success and leave as well rounded young adults.

Chiswick School is a heavily oversubscribed 'Good' secondary school with 'Outstanding' Personal Development, right opposite Chiswick House Gardens.

Our Humanities department has a history of academic success. It is sociable, welcoming and hugely supportive. History, Geography and Politics students take Edexcel GCSE and A Level, and teachers across the department have a deep intellectual interest in their subject specialisms. We work well together to combine these and in recent years have particularly worked on the links between Politics and Geography A Levels, arranging extra-curricular activities and talks to build on these connections. We organise a range of trips, domestically and internationally, across all key stages.

Inclusion and Diversity are very much at the heart of our school. We welcome applications from candidates regardless of age, disability, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, pregnancy, marital status, religious belief or race.

The Job Description and Person Specification will outline the basis of what we are looking for and can be downloaded below.   We will be using our Person Specification in our shortlisting process.

Interviews will be held throughout the application process so if you are interested please apply early.

Closing Date:  Tuesday 15th February noon

Chiswick School is committed to safeguarding children and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment.  All successful candidates will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check along with relevant employment checks.

Chiswick School is a mixed 11-18 school that is truly comprehensive in its nature.

Our vision is that we do whatever it takes to ensure every student achieves their full potential. Over the last year we have made rapid progress in our classrooms and we are delighted that Ofsted has recognised how far we have come. Over the next four years we are aiming to become one of the finest schools in London providing students with exceptional opportunities in and out of the classroom.

Chiswick School is full of adults who care deeply about children and we pride ourselves on the positive relationships we build with students. We are a family which includes parents and carers, teachers, other school staff and the community; with the child placed firmly at the centre of all that we do and the decisions that we take.

Our teaching and support colleagues are our most valuable resource and we work hard to provide a balanced and enjoyable working environment.  A new Wellbeing Strategy is being implemented to enhance what we are already doing to support our staff.

"Staff praise leaders for the improvements that have been made. They said that leaders take their workload and well-being seriously. Staff morale is high. They are committed to playing their part in the continued improvement of the school."  - Ofsted, January 2020

Laura Ellener
Headteacher
