Alleyn’s is a thriving, co-educational, HMC independent day school in Dulwich, South East London with a separate IAPS Junior School on the same 30-acre site. The School has around 1000 pupils overall, including a large and dynamic Sixth Form, the majority of whom go on to first-class universities in the UK and overseas.
We are seeking to appoint an excellent, committed, enthusiastic and dynamic teacher as Head of German for September 2018. The successful applicant will provide professional leadership and management of the Department to secure high-quality teaching, effective use of resources and the highest standards of learning and achievement for all pupils. To this end, she or he will possess excellent organisational and administrative skills, while at the same time being able to inspire pupils and staff alike.
Our MFL department currently consists of thirteen teachers including a Head of Modern Languages as well as Heads of French, Spanish and German. Many members of the department offer two languages up to GCSE or A level and being able to offer a second language to GCSE would be desirable. There are also foreign language assistants for Spanish, French and German and we currently offer clubs in Italian, Mandarin and Russian.
Languages are popular at A Level with students going on to read Modern Languages at top universities.
We have our own competitive salary scale and accommodation may be available.
