Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of the sporting provision for all students across both the Prep and Senior phases. The College is currently in the early stages of transition from all boys to coeducational status. The school has just undergone a successful ISI Inspection in which all areas were judged to be excellent with the following a specific outcome, “the quality of students’ academic and other achievements is excellent”.

We seek to appoint a well-qualified, experienced, engaging and enthusiastic leader to build on the strengths of the current provision, and, with the Director of Sport, determine the future shape and composition of the Sporting programme.

The successful candidate must also be an exemplary teacher of physical education with proven knowledge, understanding and experience. An ability to coach across two major sports will be a distinct advantage. The successful candidate will be able to teach single sex groups and mixed groups across the two phases until full transition to co-educational status is complete. GCSE and A-Level teaching is available.

The position is available to start in January 2023 or April, however, the opportunity is immediately open for the right candidate. Candidates must have the willingness to play a full part in the extra-curricular sporting provision of life of the College and be in sympathy with its Catholic ethos.

St Columba’s College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All post holders will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the role, including reference checks with past employers, online background checks, and the Disclosure & Barring Service.
