Head of House

Post Grade/Salary: L7-L11

Responsible to: Deputy Headteacher

Post Tenable: September 2020

We require a Head of House to lead student attainment within the Vertical Tutoring Structure. This will be an excellent opportunity to lead on student inclusion, development and progress as the school expands, developing the house and tutoring structure and ensuring achievement for all.

Heartlands High School is popular and oversubscribed. Developing teaching and learning and supporting staff development is the core to our success. We pride ourselves on ensuring that our Middle Leaders gain the right development to ensure a successful career as Senior Leaders and we have a strong record in securing promotion. Ofsted quoted; ’Leaders have been able to cultivate an ethos of focusing on the needs of individual pupils.  Pupils irrespective of their starting points, receive a range of support.  Many pupils make very good progress…’ (Ofsted 2016)

The successful candidate will:

- lead student motivation and attainment within the house structure;

- lead the tutor team within your house

- work to ensure excellent attendance and punctuality within the house

- develop academic mentoring to ensure the highest standards of progress for all students

- identify under-achieving students and work to support their progress through working with curriculum teams and the Learning Support team

- attend and run Multi-Agency meetings for the house

- become a pastoral leader of the students within the house

- develop interventions within the house to ensure the progress of all groups

- support child protection and, where necessary, liaise with external bodies to ensure students are well supported at all levels

Support and development:

At Heartlands, we use School IP to track and support training and ongoing CPD. Depending on your need and level of experience, you will be placed on a training pathway.

The CPD plan is released in September each year and includes a range of internal training sessions before and after school as well as on inset days.
