St Benedict's Catholic College is seeking to recruit a talented and dynamic Head of Humanities, teacher in charge of RE to lead our visionary and high-achieving faculty. The successful candidate will be an RE specialist, with a proven track record of inspiring and leading both people and curriculum developments.

The successful candidate must be a practising Roman Catholic committed to supporting the inclusive Catholic nature of the college and the spiritual journey of the members of its community.

We are a highly respected and over-subscribed Catholic school.

Student attainment at GCSE in the core subjects of English and mathematics, and in science and humanities subjects, is well above average. 

Our 2018 Ofsted inspection found that we continue to be a good school, that students behaved well and like coming to school. Our 2022 Section 48 inspection found St Benedict’s to be an outstanding Catholic school.

The Governing Body is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all young people and expects all staff to share that commitment. The successful applicant will be required to complete an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.

St Benedict’s Catholic College is a secondary school located in the ancient town of Colchester, Essex. Originally founded in 1963 as a secondary modern, St Benedict’s exists today as a co-educational voluntary-aided school.

It is the only Catholic secondary school in Colchester. With 900 students aged 11-16, St Benedict’s is a smaller than average secondary school.
