Job overview

Brent is a unique, growing and iconic area, richly diverse and full of possibilities. As a council, we take our role as place shaper very seriously, and the regeneration of the borough continues at pace. We want to ensure this growth, and resulting prospects, brings about real and lasting benefits for all our residents – young and old. That’s why we’ve reorganised the council to meet the challenges ahead, reflect a culture of collaboration and improve services even further. It’s the perfect, forward-thinking environment for a special education needs and disabilities (SEND) expert to make their mark in our Children and Young People team.

As Head of Inclusion, you’ll be responsible for providing wrap-around SEND services for children and families throughout our borough. You’ll do this by spearheading the development of high-quality inclusion services that meet the current and future needs of users – all within the resources available. And by supporting the Operational Director, you’ll continuously enhance our offering. That way, we can become more efficient and, ultimately, successful. It takes effective leadership, great budget management, strategic direction, planning and governance. Not only is this a fantastic chance to learn new areas within our portfolio - it’s also an opportunity to embed a new structure, shaping the team to have a more unified approach around children and young people.

To really make the impact we need, you’ll understand SEND better than most, and have strong partnership experience. In fact, your knowledge means you can think outside of the SEND box, injecting enthusiasm and flexibility. Of course, you’ll have a good background within the sector, combined with a professional qualification in an area such as teaching, education, psychology or social work.
