Job overview

College Development Network (CDN) is a key college sector agency, we provide professional learning and development for college staff across Scotland. We have huge reach into the college sector and last year over 5,500 delegates attended CDN events.

Our services are shaped by the needs of the sector and Scottish Government’s strategic priorities. Working with partners, CDN has a key remit to turn policy into effective practice.

Our new strategic framework is clustered around three aims:

  • We work to improve the quality of teaching and support for learners by developing the skills and expertise of our lecturers and support staff
  • We invest in the strategic vision and performance of college education, by developing great emerging leaders and excellent governance structures in colleges and beyond.
  • We are a catalyst for sector innovation, by networking colleges and showcasing their expertise, connecting industry and education to boost economic growth, and empowering partnerships that join up the learner journey.

The Head of Innovation and Partnerships is a new post which will report directly to the Chief Executive to form part of the organisation’s leadership team.

As the Head of Innovation and Partnerships you will be responsible for ensuring the For The Skills Sector objectives within the Scottish Funding Council (SFC) Outcome Agreement are successfully achieved. This includes developing an online platform for sharing best practice in college innovation and improvement, enhancing thematic development partnerships and enhancing the impact of our Development Networks. In addition, you will also manage funded projects which are out with the Outcome Agreement, lead a team of professionals and manage budgets effectively.

As a highly credible professional, you will work closely with the Leads to ensure best practice in learning and teaching and innovation is shared across the sector and beyond. From a leadership stance, you will ensure the Innovation and Partnerships team continually develops strong partnerships, while ensuring services and resources provide outputs which are in line with sector needs.

To ensure the organisation achieves its income generating objectives, it would be advantageous if you have experience of gaining and delivering commercial training projects.
