St Dominic’s School is part of Orchard Hill College & Academy Trust (OHC&AT), a specialist Trust with 12 Academies and 7 College Centres across London, Surrey and Sussex.  We are a special school in Surrey and provide education for pupils and students aged 7-19, typically with a primary diagnosis of Autism or social communication difficulties. Our school is located in the beautiful village of Hambledon, close to Witley, Milford, Guildford and Godalming. We are looking for someone with drive and creativity to contribute to the overall strategic leadership of the school, with lead accountability for Speech and Language Therapy and Occupational Therapy, counselling, careers guidance, interventions (such as Forest School) as well as medical and care services for pupils and students with complex needs including learning difficulties and disabilities, social emotional and mental health needs and challenging behaviour.  The applicant will also have lead accountability for staff CPD and whole school training.

The applicant must:

  • be a highly capable leader with a clear sense of vision, strategic thinking and purpose who has excellent leadership and management skills in order to further develop St Dominic’s and work towards outstanding status; 
  • be a registered member of the Health Professional Council (HPC), or have a recognised appropriate advanced qualification in counselling, or a recognised appropriate advance qualification in psychotherapy and be able to evidence further training/ qualifications in working with pupils and students who have learning difficulties;
  • have an understanding of multi-disciplinary working and how to provide a total package of care and education based on a child-centred approach; and 
  • have a thorough understanding of therapy practices and their value in supporting pupils and students with special needs.
