Job overview

South Hampstead High School is seeking to appoint a forward-thinking, ambitious and inspiring new Head to lead the Junior School through an exciting capital project and on through the next exciting phase of its development.

South Hampstead High School is a leading independent day school for girls aged from 4 to 18 years.  The School has an excellent academic record and enjoys a consistently high standing in the league tables.  It prides itself on providing a rounded education both inside and outside the classroom.  Following a major redevelopment of the senior site in 2014, the School offers an outstanding learning environment and state of the art facilities.  The School has two major capital projects upcoming including the development of the Junior School at Netherhall Gardens and the transformation of the Waterlow Hall into a contemporary, flexible performing arts space.

The Junior School provides a great start for girls beginning their educational journey at South Hampstead High School.  It nurtures within them curiosity, creativity, energy and laughter.  The Junior School’s access to the Senior School’s facilities and the whole of London as a playground provides a dynamic and exciting learning environment.  The Junior School aims to kindle a love of learning through an integrated approach to the curriculum, exceptional teaching standards and a commitment to every girl as an individual.

Following the appointment of Gabrielle Solti to the role of Vice Principal & Head of Primary at The Grammar School at Leeds, the Junior School is now seeking a new Head whose values and ambitions are in line with the whole school and who will enjoy the significant benefits of working as part of the Girls’ Day School Trust.

The Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST) is the UK’s leading network of independent girls’ schools, with 23 schools and two academies throughout England and Wales.  Founded in 1872, the GDST now educates 19,000 students and employ 3,500 staff.
