HEAD OF KEYBOARD
Required for September
We would like to appoint a gifted peripatetic performer/teacher of piano, able to inspire pupils to a high level in a strong and lively department. You will oversee the development of piano playing across the school and to be an advanced player, able to accompany to a high level for internal and external concerts, examinations (to diploma level) and scholarship auditions.
The Head of Keyboard role is offered on a part-time employed basis and attracts a salary of £1,600 per annum. As well as leading chamber music ensembles and accompanying for high profile events, the role holder will commit to 2 – 3 hours per week to promote keyboard within the school. In addition to this role, it is envisioned that the candidate will also teach piano, on a part-time, self-employed basis (2 days per week). Our visiting music teachers work on a sessional basis billing parents directly for their lessons at a standard hourly rate of £41 per hour from September.
The Senior School is based in St Albans and the Preparatory School in Wheathampstead, so we are looking for someone that can commute to both sites. Visiting Music Teachers at St Albans High School are self-employed and bill the parents directly.
Details of the role and application process are available on the school’s website www.stahs.org.uk/Vacancies.
The High School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
