Bohunt School has a rich heritage as a former Languages College and an illustrious presence as a genuine pioneer for language teaching in the UK. A leading founder school in the DfE flagship Mandarin Excellence Programme (MEP) and have an established Content and Language Integrated Learning programme (CLiL) wherein students spend up to a third of their time at school being taught in a foreign language, with exceptional results.

You will be supported in this role by a passionate leadership team, together with the support of Bohunt Education Trust’s Subject Director for MFL and the Lead Practitioner.

As an eight secondary school multi-academy trust, comprising of 11,000 students, we work closely together, sharing a common ethos and approach. This is encapsulated by a ‘gamechanging’ curriculum, built upon three simple words – enjoy, respect, achieve.

The successful applicant is likely to have strong inter-personal skills, recognising how to motivate and empower others; empathetic and kind, knowing when a caring word will make the difference yet unafraid to challenge performance which is deleterious to student outcomes.

The ideal leader must have an absolute passion for language learning and understand its central place in a quality educational provision. The students learn two languages in key stage 3 and choose from (French, German, Spanish or Mandarin); also offered is all 4 languages at A-Level.

There is no fixed mindset about the background of the next Head of Languages - whether you are an experienced middle leader looking for a bigger stage, or if you are a hungry and humble newer teacher seeking a role in which to make an impact en route to senior leadership.
