This role will involve fostering both personal development and academic progress and could be your first step into middle management.
You will join our Inclusion team as Head of Learning to our Year 11 students, line managing an Assistant Head of Learning, as well as a tutor team. As a team, you will ensure all students get the best possible pastoral care throughout their time at Highcrest, sharing responsibility for the learning and personal development of all students. You will also work closely with our Heads of Department, analysing data to ensure all students maximise their potential.
The role includes leading and monitoring a tutor time programme and organising and monitoring Life Lessons, as well as taking a strategic lead in ensuring the students display the highest levels of attainment, attendance, punctuality and behaviour throughout school.
We would be keen to speak to you as you take your first or further steps into middle management. However, teaching English, Physics or Girls’ PE would be an advantage.

Highcrest offers both an excellent induction and support programme for ECTs and an innovative and extensive CPD package for more experienced teachers. This provision of training has been praised as outstanding by an external assessor and highlighted in the local press. For ECTs, we provide weekly CPD meetings with experienced members of staff, time-tabled and protected Mentor Meetings on a weekly basis, subject knowledge time with departments and an extensive personalised CPD plan.

Situated in the leafy Chilterns and within easy reach of Central London, Highcrest is culturally and academically diverse and is the only academy in Buckinghamshire that caters for students of ‘all abilities’. Some of our students need all your support, whilst others need to be challenged and stretched. Our inclusive and successful House system, a wide range of clubs, visits and trips helps to bring our whole school community together. There are approximately 1,000 students on roll, including the Sixth Form. Recent additions to our site include a gym and restaurant/coffee shop for both staff and students, as well as a purpose-built Sixth Form Centre.
