We pride ourselves on being a happy community where students can grow to reach their full potential, both academically and socially. To meet the needs of our students we offer a wide choice of qualifications, a supportive environment and an exciting programme of extra–curricular opportunities, which are underpinned by high quality teaching and learning. The school actively promotes the professional development of its staff through induction, CPD and career development opportunities.

The postholder will join the department at an exciting time, as the Learning Development Department is thriving and seeks to continue to develop our provision in order to maximise our student outcomes across all four schools in the Collegiate.

Main Duties and Responsibilities are as follows:

• Ensure day to day compliance by all staff with the Collegiate’s SEND Policy

• Ensure high quality teaching of all students with special educational needs and disabilities, through training and monitoring of staff

• Maintain the Collegiate’s SEND register, records of Individual Learning Plans, and all related record keeping, including those relevant for examination concessions and special consideration

• Liaise with parents, guardians and external agencies for students with special educational needs and disabilities

• Manage the Learning Development Department in support of the above

• As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, support all whole school initiatives as required, including those required by other members of the team and/or the chairs of each leadership team

The Learning Development Department

The Learning Development at any given time comprises of Teachers, Teaching Assistants, Advanced Teaching Assistants, and other representatives from school departments who are able to contribute to the provision offered. The structure of the department evolves from year to year in order to meet the needs of the diverse student body. The post holder is required to manage, appraise and develop the team as these needs evolve.

Expectations

The school day runs from 8:30am to 4:10pm, Monday to Friday, with staff expected to be present on site for 15 minutes either side of these hours.  The post holder will work predominantly during the working week, but some evening, weekend and holiday cover is required, in support of the Senior Leadership Team. This is carried out on a rota basis. Work at other times will be required in order to fulfil the role effectively.
