Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a Head of the Learning Support Department for September 2021. The successful candidate will be a well-qualified teacher of SEND with a proven track record with management experience or who is ready to move into a position of responsibility. They will be fully committed to ensuring that every pupil achieves their potential. They will have IT and data management skills and be cheerful and supportive with pupils and colleagues. This is a full time Monday to Friday role to include three days (excluding Friday) until 7pm with a later start.

St Mary’s School Ascot has its own salary scale. The role will attract a HoD allowance.

St Mary's School Ascot is a leading Roman Catholic girls' boarding school set in 55 acres of beautiful grounds in the heart of Berkshire. We are a friendly, stable and caring community, proud of our academic and sporting achievements and dedicated to bringing out the full potential of each of our 390 pupils. There are 120 pupils in the sixth form. We are committed to full boarding, with spaces for a few day pupils living nearby. We offer a stimulating range of co-curricular activities which take place in the evenings and throughout the weekend.

St Mary’s has a strong reputation as an academic school within the Catholic tradition. Entry to the school is selective. All pupils are expected to take 9 or 10 GCSEs, and almost all stay on for the Sixth Form to pursue their A Levels. Our leavers invariably go on to higher education, the vast majority to Russell Group universities or similar, including 10-15% to Oxbridge.
