• Lower school English

• Upper school English

The position is offered on a permanent basis starting September 2022.  As an ‘Outstanding Learning Community’ that is committed to professional learning for all colleagues, we offer a range of CPD opportunities to our colleagues.

The post holder will work with the Learning Director for Languages, Literacy and Communication and the English team to plan and deliver outstanding learning opportunities for students in Languages. 

We wish to appoint a passionate and dedicated leader who is able to use a range of approaches to challenge and inspire our students and support them in achieving to their full potential.  The successful candidate will be willing to develop extra-curricular activities and help to build upon the excellent work already established.  We are looking for a dynamic team player who has energy, vision and a passion for the subject.

• Being accountable for high standards of teaching and learning within the English Area in line with relevant whole school policies;

• Being accountable for raising the standards of attainment and achievement of students of all abilities and learning styles within the subject area;

• Coordinating the organisation of appropriate student learning groups within the English Area

Students are taught in 75 minute lessons across a two week timetable.  In Lower School (Years 7-9) students have 5 lessons per fortnight.  

In Upper School (Years 10 and 11) students study have 8 lessons per fortnight and follow the WJEC GCSE English specification.
