Oakham School seeks an able and aspiring Head of Lower School (Years 6-8) to play a leading role in the next chapter of the School’s ongoing development. The Head of Lower School will have a passion for the all-round education, wellbeing and happiness of pupils during this formative stage of their educational journey. The role requires strong leadership, management and personal skills to ensure a caring and dynamic Lower School community, fully interlinked with the broader school aims and values.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a range of colleagues and be a warm and welcoming presence for all current and prospective pupils and parents. He/she will be fully committed to the busy 24/7 life of a boarding school, teaching a reduced timetable and acting as a Tutor within the Lower School. This is an exciting opportunity for an aspiring senior leader with excellent communication skills and a strong track record of setting the highest standards for pupils, as they learn and grow, both in and out of the classroom. The School has benefited from significant investment in recent years. The latest improvements include a new classroom block for the Humanities, a stunning state-of-the-art Faculty of Social Sciences, fantastic Science facilities, a purpose-built Medical and Pastoral Centre and a major redevelopment of the Sports Centre.
The School’s location close to Rutland Water, in the heart of rural England, means our pupils and staff are able to enjoy the safety of living and working in a beautifully green campus just a few minutes’ walk from Oakham’s historic town centre and amenities. At the same time Oakham’s excellent road and rail links mean that London, Birmingham and Cambridge are all within easy reach.
