Job overview

St Dominic’s School is part of Orchard Hill College & Academy Trust (OHC&AT), a specialist Trust with 12 Academies and 7 College Centres across London, Surrey and Sussex.

We are a special school in Surrey and provide education for pupils and students aged 7-19, typically with a primary diagnosis of Autism or social communication difficulties. Our school is located in the beautiful village of Hambledon, close to Witley, Milford, Guildford and Godalming. We have views of the Surrey hills and plenty of outdoor space, including access to the common and a Forest School site. Please visit https://stdominicsschool.org.uk/

At St Dominic’s we believe passionately in a multi-disciplinary, ‘needs led’ approach to meeting each child’s and young person’s needs, resulting in carefully managed groupings, including specialist intervention work from our in house therapeutic team.

The school works closely in partnership with families, referring authorities and external agencies to coordinate the best possible education, care, guidance and support for its pupils and students.

We are looking for a proactive and inspiring teacher to become our Head of Lower School. This is a rare opportunity to ensure the continued development of the Lower School and make a significant contribution to high quality organisation, leadership and management, working in conjunction with the Principal, Governors and Senior Leadership Team.

The main purpose of this role is to ensure the smooth running of Lower School (Years 3-8) through liaison with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT)  by organising staff and resources for the Lower School as required on a day to day basis.

The successful candidate would also be required to undertake a teaching commitment as appropriate to promote excellent classroom practice and sustain curriculum innovation.

The successful candidate will have a commitment to developing outstanding practice and the desire and drive to improve educational outcomes and life chances for our very special pupils and students.

Applications are welcome from experienced teachers who have the ability to think creatively, are resilient and motivated by a new challenge.

Experience of working within a SEN setting is desirable but not essential.

Benefits include: Free car parking, lunch provided on site, Employee Assistance Programme and membership to Perkbox.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact David Clarke, Vice Principal, by email at dclarke@stdominicsschool.org.uk.

Please contact Alison Corbett, HR & Recruitment Officer by phone 01428 684693 or email: acorbett@stdominicsschool.org.uk for further information or to arrange a visit to the school.

***Please note that CV applications will not be considered.***

Closing date: 12 noon, Monday 28th June 2021

St Dominic’s School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Appointment to this post is subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure.
